Job description

Senior Quantity Surveyor

A leading house builder seeks to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their busy commercial team based in Cheshire. The company deliver high quality homes across the North West region ranging from starter homes through to luxury detached homes.

Due to an increase in workload they are currently looking to recruit an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their offices based in Cheshire overseeing 3 new build housing developments.

Reporting to the Commercial Director you will be responsible for cost control of housing developments throughout the region including mentoring junior members in the team. You will involvement in the developments from the initial land appraisal stages and having responsibility for cost management for the duration of the development until the conclusion of subcontract final accounts.

Duties will include:

  • Compile cost plan budgets for new developments with comparisons to the land purchase viabilities for variances
  • Review standard build costs for all house types
  • Monitor and update trade & sales specifications
  • Process bi-monthly valuations, reconcile cost and period movement for all aspects from substructure, superstructure, site development, preliminary, sales and fee costs
  • Carry out subcontract procurement for all trades, including road & sewers, groundwork's, superstructure and external trades.
  • Process subcontract payment certificates on the COINS payment system.
  • Produce reports to identify monthly spend for preliminary, non-productive and after sales costs
  • Attend management meetings to help ensure the regions objectives & targets are met

The successful candidate will ideally a degree in Quantity Surveying/Commercial Management and have previous experience working for a volume house builder on multiple projects. You will have an excellent knowledge about Contract Law, strong time management skills and the ability to work under pressure.

In return for your skills the company offer a basic salary between £60-65k + company car or car allowance, pension, healthcare, bonus scheme, life assurance cover, 26 days annual leave and the opportunity to work with a leading house builder.
