Wokingham
This is an opportunity to join a highly technical engineering business where research and development, design, manufacturing and testing all happen on the same site.
As the business continues to grow, they are looking for a Senior Quality & Test Engineer to become the focal point for product quality, fault investigation and continuous improvement across the company.
To begin with, your focus will be on understanding the products, working alongside engineers and technicians, getting hands‑on with testing and learning how the systems operate in real-world applications. You'll be involved in product builds, system testing and fault finding, developing a detailed understanding of the technology and the challenges faced during manufacture and test.
Once you have built that understanding, you will take ownership of quality and testing processes across the business. You'll be responsible for identifying recurring issues, investigating failures, implementing corrective actions and improving the way products are tested and validated.
This is a practical role for someone who enjoys getting stuck into technical problems. When a system fails, you'll be expected to trace the issue back to its root cause, whether that's a component, PCB, wiring issue, process problem or supplier defect. You'll then work with the wider team to ensure the fix is implemented properly and the issue doesn't happen again.
You will also have the opportunity to review and improve existing test procedures. Rather than simply accepting the way things have always been done, you'll be encouraged to challenge processes, remove unnecessary steps and develop smarter, more efficient approaches to testing and quality control.
Initially, this role will be heavily focused on understanding the products and supporting testing activities, but over time you will become the person responsible for defining and improving quality and test procedures across the business. You will have the opportunity to introduce new ideas, streamline existing methods and raise quality standards throughout the organisation.
The successful candidate will have strong electrical or electronic engineering skills, a methodical approach to fault finding and a genuine interest in understanding how products work. This role would suit someone who enjoys being hands‑on with hardware and wants to make a visible impact on product quality, reliability and performance.
