Qualifications

  • Experience in an Inspection/Quality role.
  • Ability to read and understand technical data including drawings and specifications.
  • Experience using measuring equipment such as micrometers and verniers.
  • Knowledge of aerospace regulations.
  • Knowledge of AS9102 and ISO 2859-1.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word and MS Office.
  • Strong numeracy and literacy skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Inspection Priorities daily and coordinate with relevant departments.
  • Oversee day-to-day running of the Inspection Department.
  • Provide guidance on inspection methods and use of calibrated equipment.
  • Manage and action Inspection Queries.
  • Manage shelf-life inventory and product non-conformities.
  • Support continuous improvement activities for product quality.
  • Perform dimensional, visual and documentation inspection on incoming/outgoing parts.
  • Create, manage and review FAIRs in accordance with AS9102.
  • Assist with Root Cause investigations and customer feedback.
  • Document quality issues and liaise with stakeholders to implement improvements.
  • Determine and oversee inspection standards for incoming goods.

Job description

Our client, a respected organisation within the aerospace sector, is seeking a Senior Inspector to join its permanent Quality Engineering team. The role will involve ensuring aerospace components and processes meet stringent quality, safety and regulatory standards through accurate inspection, reporting and collaboration across engineering and production functions.

Key deliverables and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Inspection Priorities working and communicating with relevant departments daily and as required.
  • Supervising the day-to-day running of the Inspection Department.
  • Provide guidance and support to the Inspectors or other members of Quality on how to inspect parts and how to use calibrated equipment.
  • Manage, review and action the Inspection Queries.
  • Manage, review and action shelf-life inventory within the company.
  • Manage, review and action Product Non-Conformities and supplier returns.
  • Support continuous improvement activities regarding product quality to identify ways to improve the processes.
  • Perform dimensional, visual and documentation inspection on incoming parts from vendors, customers and outgoing products for shipment to customers.
  • Identify and perform material / parts for ad-hoc sample inspection based on customer feedback, non-conformance and / or part criticality.
  • Document and review the Inspection results and outcomes / dispositions by completing detailed reports / inspection checklists and performance records.
  • Create, Manage and Review FAIRs in accordance with AS9102.
  • Assist and participate with the investigation of Root Cause failure mode investigation of customer feedback, returns, etc.
  • Document product quality issues / concerns into Quality Concerns and liaise with relevant stakeholders to identify and implement areas of improvemen.
  • Determine and oversee inspection standards for incoming goods.

Requirements - experience/qualifications:

  • Previously worked within an Inspection / Quality Job Role.
  • Prior experience of reading and understanding technical data including drawings and specifications.
  • Prior experience of using measuring equipment such as micrometers, verniers, etc.
  • Knowledge of aerospace regulations.
  • Knowledge of problem-solving techniques and tools.
  • Knowledge of AS9102 and ISO 2859-1.
  • Ability to understand paperwork trace documentation.
  • Preferably Technical engineering apprenticeship served.
  • Must be computer literate and familiar with Microsoft Outlook, Word, MS Office.
  • Numeracy and literacy skills.
