Leonardo is a global high-tech company and one of the key players in Aerospace, Defence, and Security. Headquartered in Italy, Leonardo has over 45,000 employees, of which 7,000 are based in the UK.

The role will support key programmes in the ISP domain, ensuring quality is integrated at the design stage and maintained throughout the Product Lifecycle.

This position involves providing independent assurance across all ISP sectors, ensuring projects adhere to defined processes and that customer software quality requirements are met throughout the project lifecycle. You will support customers, project managers, the supply chain, and external quality assessment bodies, offering specialist Software Project Assurance support.

The Software Project Assurance Lead will undertake various specialist quality tasks related to Product Teams or the Quality Function, assisting in business delivery and performance. You will manage your own work with limited supervision, resolve issues, and guide others. You may also contribute to customer and vendor quality aspects, participate in quality planning, non-conformance management, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.

What you will do

  1. Identify software risks, threats, and opportunities across ISP.
  2. Define the software portion of Project Assurance Plans (PAP) aligned with project risks and opportunities.
  3. Collaborate with Procurement to develop Supplier Management Plans for software outsourcing, including risk identification, surveillance planning, and KPI establishment.
  4. Support internal and external software development audits.
  5. Create, agree, and review KPIs to inform decision-making.
  6. Provide assurance expertise to projects and programmes.

What we are looking for

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills for prioritizing multiple tasks.
  • Effective communication skills across all levels and with external stakeholders.
  • Detailed knowledge of software processes and understanding of the business area.
  • Practical knowledge of relevant standards such as Mil Std-2167A/-498, Def Stan 05-95, AQAP 150/2210, DO-178C.
  • Experience with software tools for requirements management, configuration management, testing, code coverage, and static analysis.
  • Confidence to challenge and respond to software quality assurance issues.
  • Problem-solving skills related to software quality issues.
  • Experience in a Quality Assurance or Project Assurance role within a design and manufacturing environment, preferably in Defence, Aviation, or Automotive industries.
  • Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall development methodologies.
  • Willingness and ability to travel nationally and internationally if required.
