Job Description

Major Recruitment Oldbury are delighted to be recruiting for a professional engineering organisation who are seeking an experienced Senior Quality Engineer for their Darlaston site. The role is due to expansion and a 20% year on year growth.


Hours of work are Monday to Thursday 8am to 4.30pm with a 1pm finish on Fridays.



Duties and tasks will include:


Develop and maintain FMEA's to ensure all risks are captured in the Process Quality Plan.


Create APQP documentation to support new project introduction.


Develop Standard Operating Procedures for repeat work and ensure that standardisation is adhered to.


Conduct regular audits and spot checks to ensure compliance to internal processes and standards.


Manage customer complaints and internal non-conformance using methodologies such as 8D, Ishikawa Diagrams and 5 Why's.


Undertake improvement projects to reduce scrap, rework and non-conformance.


Conduct contract reviews to ensure that requirements are planned and achievable.


Design packaging specifications.


Train members of staff regarding best practice activities.



Candidates welcome to apply for the role will have the following:


An Engineering qualification to minimum HNC level is desirable.


A CQI Diploma at Level 5 would be a distinct advantage.


A strong engineering background is essential, preferably gained within a Machine Shop environment.


Must be able to demonstrate experience of APQP, FMEA, Control Plans, SPC, Six Sigma and Gauge R&R gained in a similar position.


Must be able to communicate well at all levels.


Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.


The successful candidate will be able to motivate people and be able to demonstrate his/her contribution to continual improvement activities.
