Job summary

Unknown are seeking a Head of Quality for a Defence & Aerospace manufacturing environment in Central Scotland. You will lead a 12-strong Quality Engineering, Supplier Quality and Laboratory team, setting high standards and driving technical capability.

The role emphasizes leadership beyond audits, focusing on failure analysis, risk management and development of quality systems to scale with growing production. Prior aerospace/defence exposure is advantageous but not essential.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or other relevant technical discipline.
• Experience leading a multidisciplinary Quality team in a high‑regulation environment.
• Strong capability in root cause analysis, FMEA and preventive quality activity.

Responsibilities

• Lead a 12‑person Quality team across Quality Engineering, Supplier Quality and Laboratory.
• Drive root cause analysis, fault finding and failure analysis.
• Improve response times to technical issues and customer confidence.
• Lead risk management, FMEA and preventative quality activity.
• Oversee non-conformance, product conformance and qualification.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Operations.
• Provide technical leadership during customer visits and discussions.
• Develop aerospace/defence quality capability to scale with growth.
