Job summary

Engineering Recruit Scotland seeks a Head of Quality for a Tier 1 Defence & Aerospace manufacturer in Central Scotland. You will lead a 12-strong team across Quality Engineering, Supplier Quality and Laboratory, shaping culture, standards and performance in a demanding technical environment.

You may come from Head of Quality, Quality Manager or senior Quality Engineer backgrounds and will drive continuous improvement, risk management and customer-facing technical leadership to support growth and

Qualifications

• Strong technical engineering capability.
• Experience in complex serial manufacturing.
• Excellent root cause analysis and structured problem solving.
• Understanding of stresses, strains and failure modes in complex products.
• Strong quality engineering and risk-management capability.
• Ability to challenge standards and drive continuous improvement.
• Credibility with demanding technical customers.
• Methodical, detailed and disciplined approach.
• Strong leadership and coaching ability.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop multidisciplinary Quality team.
• Create the right culture, environment and standards across the function.
• Drive improvements in root cause analysis, fault finding and failure analysis.
• Improve reaction times and the quality of response when technical issues occur.
• Lead risk management, FMEA and preventative quality activity.
• Support investigation of complex product and process issues.
• Develop Quality Engineering capability as production volumes increase.
• Oversee non-conformance, product conformance and qualification activity.
• Work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Operations.
• Provide credible technical leadership during customer visits and technical discussions.
• Support the continued development of an aerospace quality management system.
