Job description
About The Team

SRUC is unique in Scotland and one of the largest organisations of its kind in Europe. Our ambitious and exciting vision is to work at local, national and international levels, leading innovation and sustainable development in agriculture and rural sectors.

The Quality Assurance (QA) Team at SRUC plays a pivotal role in maintaining and enhancing academic standards across all programmes. Working collaboratively with academic and professional services colleagues, the team ensures that SRUC delivers high-quality education that meets the expectations of students, staff, awarding bodies, and external regulators.

Our work spans both Higher Education (HE) and Further Education (FE), supporting programme validation, accreditation, and continuous improvement. We are responsible for developing and implementing robust quality assurance frameworks, monitoring compliance with regulatory requirements, and facilitating institutional readiness for external scrutiny.

The QA Team is committed to fostering a culture of excellence, transparency, and continuous enhancement. Through workshops, forums, CPD sessions, and the QA intranet, we engage staff across the institution to embed quality assurance into everyday practice. We also work closely with external agencies such as QAA Scotland, Education Scotland, SQA, and the Scottish Funding Council to ensure SRUC remains aligned with sector-wide standards and expectations.

About the opportunity:

SRUC is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Quality Assurance Officer to join our Quality Assurance Team and play a key role in shaping the future of education across our institution.

In this pivotal role, you will support the Quality Assurance (QA) Lead in embedding a culture of quality assurance across SRUC. You’ll work closely with academic colleagues to ensure QA is prioritised institutionally, uphold high standards in service delivery, and ensure consistent implementation of academic standards across all programmes.

You’ll contribute to strategic goals through activities such as workshops, forums, CPD sessions, and intranet development, helping to build a culture of excellence and continuous enhancement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support compliance with evolving QA regulations, including those related to Tertiary Degree Awarding Powers (TDAP).
  • Engage with external bodies such as QAA Scotland, Education Scotland, and the Scottish Funding Council.
  • Lead and support audits, validations, and accreditation processes.
  • Represent SRUC externally to promote continuous improvement and institutional credibility.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of quality assurance frameworks and monitoring schedules.

You should have a strong track record of working with tertiary sector agencies and external stakeholders, and be proficient in data analysis, Excel, and IT systems. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative team player with excellent communication skills and a genuine passion for SRUC’s mission and commitment to quality assurance.

Experience in line managing or supervising staff, whether formally or informally, is desirable and will be an asset in this role.
