About us

The Faculty of Social Science & Public Policy (SSPP), King's College London, is seeking to recruit a Senior Quality Assurance Manager (Maternity Cover) to lead the Quality Assurance team including two other staff to work together to deliver high-quality customer service for the faculty.

About the role

This role is a key role for the Faculty in the Education function. They will plan and proactively manage the annual quality cycle for the faculty's portfolio of programmes and modules and manage operational processes across the academic cycle ensuring that they are conducted in a timely and accurate manner and reviewed regularly with a focus on continuous enhancement of the student experience.

They will be part of the Faculty Education team working in a high pace, dynamic working environment, working collaboratively with colleagues in Digital Education, Programme Administration, Student Support and Experience and with academic colleagues, across the academic cycle and a number of projects both locally and across the university and reporting to the Associate Director, Education. In particular in relation to transformation projects, they will lead locally around the implementation of Course Loop and support the integration of the system and its successful introduction across the Faculty.

They will be an excellent communicator who is able to work with a range of stakeholders and a proactive leader with excellent knowledge and experience relating to quality assurance as well as leading teams.

Their knowledge of higher education and regulatory environments will enable them to navigate complex matters relating to quality assurance as well as support their team and wider Faculty colleagues in this respect.

This is a full time post and will be offered as a fixed term contract until October 2026.

About you

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

  1. Substantial experience in a higher education administration environment; with an emphasis on managing quality assurance provision
  2. Proactive and authentic approach to leadership, experience of line management and managing high-performing teams, including motivating staff.
  3. Experience of managing projects and managing change, including developing innovative solutions, contributing positively to implementing change and practical implementation of change.
  4. Excellent communication skills, including experience of translating complex regulations, processes and information in suitable formats for a variety of audiences.
  5. Experience of managing a quality assurance audit or periodic review events.
  6. Excellent task management skills and proven ability to use initiative, prioritise workloads for self and others, and respond positively to competing demands and deadlines.
  7. Excellent interpersonal skills including influencing and negotiating with a range of stakeholders with the ability to form strong professional networks
  8. Awareness and understanding of higher education policies and current issues within the sector, and experience of working within regulatory and statutory frameworks.

Desirable criteria

  1. Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.
  2. Experience of improving the student experience.
  3. Evidence of continuous professional development.
