About the role

Are you ready to take your commercial expertise to the next level? We're looking for a Senior QS to join our Commercial and Finance Team within Balfour Beatty Living Places. In this role, you'll work closely with the Commercial Manager to support and drive the commercial strategy of key contracts, ensuring we meet business objectives and deliver high-quality service to our clients.

You'll play a key role in supporting operational teams, strengthening supplier relationships, and ensuring commercial compliance and best value across all aspects of the contract.

What you'll be doing

  • Supporting the Commercial Manager with contract strategy and performance
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Coaching operational colleagues on commercial and contractual requirements
  • Ensuring subcontractors are effectively engaged and managed
  • Leading or supporting on client and stakeholder meetings
  • Collaborating with procurement and finance teams to deliver best value and accurate cost control
  • Managing risk registers, subcontract accounts, variations, and change control processes
  • Providing commercial documentation and support for dispute resolution if needed
  • Contributing to monthly valuations and financial reporting

Who we're looking for

We're looking for someone who is collaborative, detail-oriented, and commercially astute. Ideally, you will have:

  • Experience working with NEC3 contracts (ideally in a public realm environment)
  • Knowledge of commercial/costing systems and Microsoft Office tools
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • The ability to influence and motivate others with a positive and flexible mindset
  • A desire to continuously develop and contribute to business improvement
  • Chartered (RICS or ICES) or working towards chartership
