Overview

Job Title: Senior Quantity Surveyor
Location: Bristol, UK

Turner Lovell are recruiting a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join an 1billion+ turnover EPC Contractor in the electricity and renewable energy sector. Having secured multi-year framework agreements, they are now expanding the team to deliver turnkey HV substation projects ranging from 20m to 150m across the UK. A Senior Quantity Surveyor will become an integral part of the Commercial Team, and will be responsible for assisting the Commercial Department and project team to maximize profit and reduce risk.

Key Responsibilities
  • Compile relevant information for the preparation of reports and claims within agreed timescales.
  • Assist with the implementation of commercial applications for site personnel while developing lasting relationships with Business Unit and Project Managers.
  • Refer to the project risk management plan for thorough, accurate, high-level risk assessment. Monitor the register and related documentation in accordance with the plan.
  • Manage all sub-contractors, ensuring compliant quotations/enquiries/applications are submitted within required timescales. Produce documentation to select and secure services, and manage monthly assessments, variations/CE claims, and final account agreements.
  • Increase knowledge of commercial issues and contract law to manage and agree on compensation events/variations/claims.
  • Develop processes for increased accuracy and efficiency, minimising time spent on journal and reconciliation tasks.
  • Liaise with the Commercial Manager and designated Project Team to ensure appropriate commercial cover is maintained.
  • Assist the team and Project Manager, Engineers, and Planners with the recovery of contract costs and enhancing project profit by identifying variations, delays, and claims.
  • Produce monthly project financial and forecast-to-complete reports for analysis with Finance and Commercial staff.
  • Develop sound and balanced negotiating skills.
  • Attend handover and progress meetings as requested.
  • Help produce a site commercial manual and documents to record variations.
  • Comply with and contribute to the effective implementation of Health and Safety, Quality, and Environmental Policies.
  • Undertake any other duties as necessary to meet the varying demands of the business and satisfy customer needs.
Skills & Knowledge Requirements
  • Knowledge of contract costing and contract law (NEC3/4).
  • Previous experience in a Quantity Surveying or Cost Clerk role.
  • Experience in contract management, capturing site records for variations and valuations, and supporting a project team.
  • Subcontract management and cost/value reconciliation skills.
  • Full UK Driving license.
  • Excellent negotiating, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and financial awareness.
