Opportunity for a Senior QA Technologist
Join a growing Ecommerce Retailer in the Worsley area, specializing in trend-led home and apparel products, including bedding, throws, cushions, and loungewear. Due to strong trading figures and company investment, they are expanding their Technologist team.
Job Description
- Conduct comprehensive Red & Gold Seal assessments for product categories, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
- Review and approve product specifications, advising on quality control measures and test plans.
- Identify potential risks early and collaborate with product development teams and suppliers to implement mitigation strategies.
- Work closely with product development teams to incorporate quality standards at the inception of new products.
- Address non-conformities by working with suppliers to implement corrective actions.
- Review technical documentation, including material datasheets, regulatory declarations, and product certifications.
- Ensure materials and components meet regulatory and safety standards.
- Maintain a compliance database for all product categories and packaging requirements.
- Plan and oversee external lab testing for UK & EU markets.
- Stay informed about emerging risks and regulatory updates to ensure product safety.
- Ensure packaging, labelling, and declarations comply with legal requirements.
- Liaise with customer care to address non-conformities promptly.
- Manage workload for junior QA team members.
- Review and approve safety claims; create instructional materials for compliance.
- Maintain up-to-date technical and ethical audit documentation for suppliers.
- Develop and update internal compliance policies and procedures.
- Lead efforts to resolve quality, safety, and compliance issues collaboratively.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in product safety and quality assurance.
- Serve as the primary contact for trading standards and address related queries.
- Communicate regulatory changes to internal stakeholders.
The Successful Candidate
- Highly organized with strong communication skills.
- Solid commercial awareness and understanding of the supply chain.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in a QA or related role.
- Proven experience in regulatory compliance, preferably in furniture and homeware goods.
- Ability to assess technical documentation and recommend safety tests and risk analysis.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Experience managing a team is preferred.
- Proficiency in IT skills, including Excel.
