Senior Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer - D grade


Tax and Legal Technology Team


We are a team of 300+ technologists providing technology enablement services and solutions across the Tax and Legal business. This business has 2,500 tax & legal professionals covering multiple disciplines. We serve many thousands of clients and private individuals by providing a modern, market-leading suite of technology solutions that deliver an efficient digital experience from routine to complex tax advice depending on the client's situation.


Tax is highlighted frequently as an industry where generative AI will significantly impact service delivery. You will work as part of a team at the forefront of navigating this change, redefining how tax is determined in the UK and globally, ensuring people and companies pay the right amount of tax with minimal effort.


The Engineering department comprises Product Owners, Business Analysts, multi-disciplinary Engineering teams (approximately 160 Software, QA, and Cloud Operations engineers), and IT Service delivery professionals working on a large portfolio of systems to improve productivity and solve key business problems across Tax & Legal. We also develop cutting-edge web portals for clients to interact with KPMG, maximizing collaboration and seamless information delivery.


The Role

You will work in a team of Software Engineers and QA Engineers across various projects for clients and internal professionals. Your role includes monitoring and guiding junior testers to achieve high QA standards, delivering comprehensive quality assurance and testing for all product developments, enhancements, and fixes, including release and system testing with automation. The goal is to maintain high software quality, increase customer satisfaction, and reduce issues through automation technologies.


The role is based in Glasgow, with an expectation of spending two days per week in the office.


While prior knowledge of tax is not required, you are expected to develop domain knowledge over time.


You will have ...
  • Quality Focus: Passion for delivering quality software with excellent user experience and fidelity to visual design, including AI-driven applications. Ability to create clear, concise test plans and test cases. Experience in risk identification and mitigation.
  • Proven Track Record: Experience designing automated frameworks with Selenium, Playwright, or similar tools; using BDD tools like SpecFlow or Cucumber; testing APIs manually and automatically; using test management tools such as Zephyr and Jira; implementing testing techniques including AI model validation; performing integration and end-to-end testing.
  • Programming Skills: Experience in C#, Java, or similar object-oriented languages.
  • AI Knowledge: Familiarity with tools like OpenAI for test scenario generation, validation of AI responses, and testing communication agents.
  • Collaborative Approach: Ability to work with development teams and business experts to ensure AI features meet requirements and quality standards.

  • AI Knowledge: Experience creating test strategy documents for AI and machine learning components.
  • Proven Track Record: Performance testing using K6, JMeter, or similar; leading and participating in UAT; mobile testing; experience with BrowserStack or similar tools.
  • Quality Focus: Exposure to testing digital accessibility manually or automatically.
  • Communication: Confident and effective stakeholder communication.
  • Deep Technical Knowledge: Understanding of complex web application architecture.
  • Continuous Delivery: Maintaining test pipelines with CI tools like GitHub Actions and Azure DevOps.
  • Enterprise Expertise: Knowledge of microservices architecture.
  • Data Accuracy: SQL querying and database testing.
In this role you will...
  • Collaborative Approach: Work in a Lean Agile team using Scaled Agile Framework, ensuring high-quality releases. Conduct test case reviews.
  • Quality Focus: Review specifications, develop and maintain test cases, isolate and report defects, establish testing practices, automate tests for AI models, create test plans and reports.
  • AI Knowledge: Use automation tools including OpenAI models for validation, NLP, and conversational interfaces testing.
  • Proven Track Record: Work independently on projects, focus on automation, mentor junior team members.
