Lead QA Engineer (Automation)

Location:London (1 day per-week on-site)

Salary: £70-90k plus 15% bonus

Talentedge Technology have partnered with a London-based, scaling HealthTech firm to hire a Lead QA Engineer (Automation). You’ll join a technically strong QA team and provide the leadership, structure, and external-facing communication needed to support faster delivery and continued growth. This role is critical in enabling transition from quarterly to monthly release cycles.

This is a hands-on leadership role: you’ll be equally comfortable writing automation code, shaping test strategy, mentoring engineers, and representing QA in cross-functional and external discussions.

Responsibilities:

• Take ownership of QA delivery across projects, acting as a trusted lead for planning, prioritisation, and execution.
• Reduce operational dependency on senior leadership by owning day-to-day QA decision-making.
• Remain hands-on with test automation and quality tooling.
• Contribute to and evolve automated test frameworks (currently Puppeteer with TypeScript).
• Review, improve, and explain test code to ensure clarity, maintainability, and best practices.
• Communicate clearly and confidently with external stakeholders, including IT teams and partners.

Skills/Requirements:

• A Test Manager or Senior QA Engineer with strong leadership experience.
• Proven ability to balance hands-on technical work with people and project ownership.
• Background in consulting, start-ups, or scale-ups is a strong plus.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals (language and framework-agnostic mindset).
• Experience designing and maintaining automated test suites.
• Familiarity with TypeScript and browser automation tools (e.g. Puppeteer or similar).
• Experience working with AWS environments is a plus.
• Confident, clear communicator with experience working with external partners or customers.
