Job summary

Spectrum IT Recruitment is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer in the Southampton area for a large-scale public sector project. The role focuses on building robust automated testing strategies and delivering secure software through Playwright and Java-based UI/API tests.

The successful candidate will lead QA activities, design test plans, and drive automation within an Agile team, with hybrid working and eligibility for security clearance.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in Automation Testing.
• Hands-on UI and API automation testing.
• Strong knowledge of test design, automation, and QA best practices.
• Experience with Playwright and Java, Typescript, or another OO language.
• Experience writing SQL queries.
• Experience working with AWS and SaaS products.
• Agile development practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead QA activities within the development team and champion quality.
• Design and execute test strategies for new products and features.
• Review solution designs to identify quality risks and recommend improvements.
• Develop and maintain end-to-end automated tests using Playwright.
• Perform manual and automated testing across UI and API layers.
• Monitor test and production environments and support defect resolution.
• Continuously improve test coverage, QA processes, and automation frameworks.
• Collaborate with developers and stakeholders to deliver high-quality releases.
