Hyperlayer, based in the heart of London, is seeking a hands-on Principal Quality Engineer to own and expand automation frameworks for our API‑driven platform. You will drive contract testing, set testing standards, and uplift the QE team while partnering with engineering, product and client teams.

This senior IC role requires deep fintech experience, strong Java and REST Assured skills, and a commitment to working in our London office four days per week.

Competenze

• 8+ years in test automation and quality engineering, including time as a technical lead or principal engineer.
• Proven track record building and evolving automation frameworks from scratch.
• Deep API automation experience with REST Assured and Postman/Newman.
• Hands-on experience setting up contract testing with Pact, broker/verification/CI‑CD gates.
• Strong Java or JVM language skills.
• Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and large test suites.
• Direct fintech/payments domain experience.
• Able to advocate standards and uplift the team without authority.
• Willing to be in London office four days per week.

Mansioni

• Own test automation frameworks and tooling, ensuring speed and reliability.
• Design and build new frameworks to cover data-driven tests and non-functional testing.
• Set up contract testing across services using Pact and CI/CD gates.
• Decide testing scope per pipeline and certification stage.
• Define framework standards and review designs and code.
• Partner with engineering leads on test architecture for new services.
• Work with Product and Client Implementation to reflect client workflows in tests.
• Reduce flakiness and improve test metrics across the suite.
• Lead exploration of AI in testing and establish guardrails.
• Mentor manual testers to grow into automation roles.
