Job summary

JPMorganChase seeks a Senior Lead Software Engineer to join the Context Plane initiative, building a greenfield data platform that connects firm knowledge to AI agents. You’ll own components end-to-end from ingestion to retrieval, shaping architecture and driving secure, scalable delivery.

You will mentor peers, collaborate across AI, product, and data science teams, and help raise the engineering bar with robust testing, observability, and enterprise-grade practices.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification in software engineering and applied experience.
• Proven experience building production-grade Python backend services and data pipelines.
• Strong API design, automated testing, CI/CD, and source control practices.
• Experience designing scalable data ingestion and integration pipelines.
• Proficiency with AWS and containerized services (Docker/ECS).
• Ability to own end-to-end technical components from design to deployment.
• Collaborative cross-functional work with engineering, product, and data science.
• Understanding responsible AI use and secure coding practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain backend services and data pipelines in Python.
• Evolve serving layer — graph/vector retrieval, GraphRAG, and a Model Context Protocol endpoint.
• Extract reusable components into a shared core library.
• Integrate with data sources and enterprise AI gateways.
• Own quality: automated testing, code reviews, observability, and secure design.
• Collaborate with Corporate Technology AI, product, and data science colleagues to translate concrete use cases into working capabilities.
• Mentor teammates to raise the engineering bar across the team.
• Drive enterprise AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and outcomes.
• Apply SDLC tools to improve automation and value realization.
