Job summary

Xcede in Glasgow is seeking a hands-on Senior Python Developer to join the data governance function within a technology risk team. You will deliver API‑driven data solutions using FastAPI and Pydantic, shaping governance, quality, and lineage across large financial datasets.

You will work three days on-site, collaborate across risk, compliance, and data teams, and bring strong Python capabilities, JSON/YAML/SQL experience, and awareness of regulatory requirements to production.

Qualifications

• 7+ years professional Python development, with FastAPI and Pydantic.
• Experience with JSON, YAML, REST APIs and SQL.
• Git-based development, CI/CD, automated testing.
• Experience using AI-assisted tools (Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor).
• Financial services experience in risk/compliance/Regulatory reporting.
• Based in Glasgow or Scotland with 3 days on-site.
• Data governance or cloud certifications.

Responsibilities

• Develop Python solutions using FastAPI and Pydantic for API structures.
• Build reusable libraries and automation for ingestion, governance workflows, data quality, and lineage.
• Design solutions for large-scale financial and risk data with performance and regulatory controls.
• Work with APIs, JSON, YAML and SQL; review outputs for security and maintainability.
