Job summary

Sky is seeking a Senior Software Developer to join its UK Tech software and data science team in London. You will design, build, and evolve software platforms, services and data products enabling analytics, automation, forecasting, and AI-driven decisions across Sky’s networks.

The role spans software engineering, cloud infrastructure, data science, and AI, delivering scalable solutions in collaboration with data scientists and network experts.

Qualifications

• Proficient in Python with strong coding practices.
• Experience building RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and modern tooling.
• Experience with cloud platforms (GCP/AWS/Azure).
• Hands-on with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with Git-based workflows and DevOps culture.
• Understanding of data engineering workflows and analytical databases.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable software platforms and APIs.
• Build cloud-native services for analytics, forecasting, and AI workloads.
• Collaborate with data scientists and engineers to translate requirements into solutions.
• Develop backend services using Python frameworks (FastAPI, Flask, Django).
• Implement containerised apps with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for reliable deployment and monitoring.
• Create reusable platform components to improve developer productivity.
• Contribute to data product workflows including ingestion and transformation.
• Ensure security, reliability, scalability, and performance of solutions.
• Participate in architecture reviews and engineering best practices.
• Mentor junior developers and foster engineering culture.
