digiLab is a formative AI company at the heart of uncertainty quantification. We’re seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and build the Uncertainty Engine, a scalable, secure backend powering trustworthy AI for high‑stakes problems.

You’ll own architecture, APIs, CI/CD, and incident response, with frontend tasks possible. The role blends deep backend expertise with a product‑minded approach in a fast‑growing startup, on‑site in Exeter or Bristol, with competitive benefits and growth

Qualifications

• Significant industry experience building production software.
• Deep Python expertise with clean, self‑explanatory code.
• Proven experience building production APIs with FastAPI (or similar).
• Hands‑on experience deploying AWS infrastructure as code (IaC).
• Degree in computer science or related field.
• Experience with DevOps and MLOps.
• Knowledge of SOLID/DRY, design patterns, and architectures.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development and maintenance of high‑quality software from architecture to deployment.
• Build scalable systems using AWS, Python, MongoDB and other modern technologies.
• Embed security best practices across the SDLC.
• Own and improve CI/CD pipelines for fast, reliable deployments.
• Apply site reliability engineering to improve performance and resilience.
• Collaborate with product to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Design clean RESTful APIs and provide incident support and investigations.
• Champion Scrum and drive continuous improvement in team processes.
• Foster a learning, collaborative environment across the stack.
• Potential frontend tasks; contribute across the stack as needed.
• Adopt AI tools to assist and accelerate work.
