Job description

Senior Pyrotechnics Supervisor
Location: Chalgrove, OX44
Salary: £52,000 - £55,000 per year + possible overtime
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

We re looking for an experienced Manufacturing Supervisor / Team Leader to oversee a specialised pyrotechnics department based in Chalgrove. This is a hands-on leadership role, managing a team of up to 15 operatives across x-ray, leak testing, and part-marking functions, ensuring output, quality, and on-time delivery are consistently achieved.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead daily production activities and attend morning meetings to align on work priorities.
  • Monitor team performance against KPIs and ensure tasks are completed to target timelines.
  • Oversee health & safety compliance, including monthly audits, PPE use, and health monitoring.
  • Conduct annual appraisals and manage skills matrices to ensure team competency.
  • Drive continuous improvement through team development, process optimisation, and capital investment.
  • Liaise with quality and production support teams to resolve issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain compliance with RT (radiographic testing) standards where applicable, and support training for new and existing staff.

About You
  • Strong background in manufacturing or production leadership roles.
  • Strong experience in Radiographic Techniques. (RD Techniques)
  • Must have experience working with Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)
  • Experience working in a high-reliability, regulated environment.
  • Working knowledge of lean manufacturing, TQM, MRP, and other modern manufacturing systems.
  • Competent in managing audits, compliance, and departmental KPIs.
  • Effective communicator, team leader, and problem solver with good IT and administrative skills.

Qualifications
  • A-Level or equivalent advanced education.
  • NVQ Level 4 in Engineering or similar, or a recognised engineering apprenticeship/degree.
  • Desirable: Level 3 qualification in radiographic testing (ASNT/NAS410/EN4179).
