At Cornwall and Isles of Scilly NHS Talking Therapies we have an exciting opportunity to join our West Team as a Senior Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner. The position holder will be expected to work part of the week from an office in the West Cornwall area to provide a face-to-face clinic. The other days will be completed remotely.

Main duties of the job

As a Senior Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (SPWP) you will support the Service Lead, Professional Lead & Team Managers to develop the Step 2 service provision across the organisation. These roles provide an opportunity for experienced PWPs who are committed to developing their careers to share their interest and passion and to develop these qualities and skills in others. In addition to maintaining a PWP (Step 2) caseload, the post holders will work within the Talking Therapies service providing a range of more senior duties including:

Clinical support and guidance around clinical suitability and patient risk across the organisation.

Clinical supervision/case management of both qualified & trainee PWPs.

Clinical skills training.

Referral assessment, identifying & ensuring appropriate and current level of intensity for patients.

Clinically support/mentor less experienced PWPs.

Lead on low intensity service developments and deliver in house training workshops.

Develop, support and train innovative practice to trainee PWPs and to other workers qualified to act in low intensity worker roles.

Integrate care with physical health services to improve physical and mental health outcomes for clients with long-term conditions.

Person Specification
Education / Qualifications and Relevant Experience
  • Psychology Degree or similar
  • A qualification or substantial experience in professional clinical supervision
  • Ability to demonstrate a range of post-qualifying experiences in offering and delivering the range of evidence-based Talking Therapies low intensity interventions such as computerised CBT and guided self-help and group psycho-education
  • Evidence of working with people who have experienced mental health and physical health problems
  • Talking Therapies Long Term Conditions (LTC) (low intensity) qualified
Skills and Aptitude
  • Leadership / management skills or pre requisites/interest in developing these
  • Experience of supervising, guiding or mentoring others within a therapeutic setting
