Job summary

Orion Electrotech Ltd. in Marlborough, Wiltshire, is seeking a Senior Propulsion Systems Engineer to lead propulsion development from concept to qualification and in-service support.

The role covers multiple propulsion technologies, and requires ownership of requirements, architecture, interfaces and technical baselines. You will work with multidisciplinary teams and oversee testing programmes while mentoring engineers and driving technical excellence across projects.

Qualifications

• Degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical, Mechanical or Systems Engineering.
• Strong propulsion systems knowledge and thermodynamics.
• Experience delivering propulsion or complex aerospace systems through lifecycle stages.
• Systems engineering: requirements mgmt, verification & validation, interfaces & risk.

Responsibilities

• Lead propulsion system development from concept through qualification and in-service support.
• Evaluate and integrate gas turbine, rocket, reciprocating engine, battery-electric propulsion options.
• Own system requirements, architecture, interfaces and baselines; manage configurations.
• Collaborate with structures, avionics, controls and software teams.
• Lead testing activities, analyze results and resolve technical issues.

Our client, an innovative engineering organisation operating in the aerospace and advanced propulsion sector, is seeking a Senior Propulsion Systems Engineer to lead the development of cutting-edge propulsion solutions. This is a key technical leadership role with responsibility for propulsion system design, integration, testing and qualification across a range of technologies.

What You'll Do

• Lead propulsion system development from concept through to qualification and in-service support.
• Evaluate and integrate gas turbine, rocket, reciprocating engine, battery-electric and emerging propulsion technologies.
• Own system requirements, architecture, interfaces, configuration control and technical baselines.
• Work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams covering structures, avionics, controls and software.
• Lead testing activities, analyse results and resolve technical issues.
• Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership across projects.

What You'll Bring

• Degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical, Mechanical, Systems Engineering or a related discipline.
• Strong understanding of propulsion systems, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, combustion and/or electric drive technologies.
• Proven experience delivering propulsion or complex aerospace systems through multiple lifecycle stages.
• Strong systems engineering expertise including requirements management, verification and validation, interfaces and risk management.
• Experience planning and leading complex testing programmes.
• Competency with engineering analysis, modelling and CAD tools.
• Ability to obtain and maintain UK security clearance.
