Position

Senior Property Accountant, to join our Property Accounting team within Financial Management in Norwich. You’ll play a vital role in reporting and maintaining financial controls, producing insightful reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance, and supporting ongoing development through structured learning. You’ll collaborate with finance and surveyors, building strong relationships and resolving issues as they arise, contributing to an industry-leading Property Accounting team positioned as a Centre of Excellence.

What this job involves
Reporting and Key Responsibilities
  • Support financial operations and reporting for specified portfolios, including technical accounting input, and handling high-profile or complex instructions. Review trial balance reporting, management accounts, nominal ledger reconciliations and journals, VAT reporting, funding reviews, payments to clients and meeting client deadlines and expectations.
  • Learn and undertake duties of the Property Accountant and Assistant Property Accountant roles and provide technical accounting support to these individuals.
  • Manage insurance renewals across the portfolio and perform reconciliations as required.
  • Identify and suggest improvements to standardise, streamline and simplify working procedures.
  • Administer financial operations related to mobilisation and demobilisation of property transactions.
  • Coordinate the resolution of day-to-day queries from clients and occupiers.
  • Perform variable head lease calculations, NOI reporting, bad debt provisioning, and other accounting/administrative duties in support of the property portfolio.
Team Development and Performance Management
  • Assist the Property Accounts Manager with training, retention and motivation of the team, focusing on the ongoing development of the Assistant Property Accountants.
  • Support workload management and oversight of the wider portfolio.
  • Support senior management in creating an industry-leading Property Accounting team recognised as a Centre of Excellence.
Maintain Financial Controls
  • Monitor key performance indicators on the client portfolio and drive timely resolution of issues with relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of control account reconciliations and monitor funding levels.
  • Manage risk by complying with company, accounting and regulatory procedures and controls; escalate issues promptly.
  • Perform other controls as defined by the accredited control framework and support internal and external audits.
Engagement with Stakeholders & Wider Teams
  • Be a point of contact for specific clients for day-to-day portfolio management.
  • Coordinate with Surveyors, JLL Business Services finance teams and other stakeholders, providing information in a timely manner.
  • Attend internal and external meetings as required and maintain strong communication with Property Accounting management and other internal teams.
Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, V-Lookups, X-Lookups and related formulas).
  • Working knowledge of MS Office tools (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work in a team.
  • Flexible and able to work under pressure, multi-task and prioritise effectively.
  • Organised with attention to detail and able to meet tight deadlines.
  • Able to manage and develop strong client relationships and provide excellent client service.
  • Proactive problem-solving with own initiative.
  • Knowledge of property accounts and VAT accounting.
  • AAT Level 4 qualified (or equivalent) with 3 years accounting experience, or QBE (4 years in accounting function).
  • 1 year property accounting experience.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Client Systems (Yardi / MRI / Horizon) advantageous.
  • ACCA / CIMA / ACA qualified.
