Job summary

Our client in the UK energy sector is seeking a Senior Project Planner to drive the delivery of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects across the UK. You will oversee full lifecycle planning, coordinate schedules and costs, and provide accurate reporting to senior leadership.

The role requires 10+ years in M&E project planning, strong skills in Primavera P6 and PowerBI, and a proactive approach to risk management and SIMOPS. Hybrid working and a performance-based bonus are included.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of proven experience in project planning within Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) projects.
• Strong expertise in schedule coordination, cost forecasting, and earned value management.
• Solid understanding of SIMOPS, contractor schedule validation, and risk analysis.
• Proficiency in Primavera P6 and PowerBI.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and monitor full project lifecycles, reporting progress to senior leadership and project managers.
• Coordinate schedules, costs, and resource models, including developing what-if scenarios to mitigate project risks.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to align timelines and validate contractor schedules.
• Analyse schedule and cost variances, ensure SIMOPS compliance, and recommend corrective actions to meet deadlines and budgets.
• Support progress reporting, baseline schedule development, and risk management processes.
• Contribute to lessons learned documentation and project closeout activities.

This role is instrumental in ensuring seamless project execution from inception through to completion, contributing directly to the clean energy transition.
