A day in the life of an Ascent Senior Project Planner...

As a Senior Project Planner, you will be part of a dedicated and diverse Planning team. You will build relationships with stakeholders across all areas of the business, including customer and supplier organisations. You will have opportunities to experience both our headquarters and operating sites. If you are interested in joining our exceptional planning team, please read further for more details.

Reporting to the Senior Planning Manager, this role covers multiple delivery streams, focusing on Rotary Wing/Rear Crew and Fixed Wing/Fast Jet. The roles will interchange to ensure comprehensive operational experience. Senior Project Planners are viewed as planning subject matter experts and will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining detailed schedules with high accuracy, aligned with the business rhythm.
  • Updating cross-project linkages across the portfolio.
  • Generating and presenting reporting packs to highlight monthly changes.
  • Communicating monthly reports to Operations teams and addressing data queries.
  • Guiding site-based teams in analysing and understanding Primavera data.
  • Troubleshooting operational planning issues, including scenario planning, with stakeholder engagement.
  • Validating and signing off changes from the Training Design Database into Primavera.
  • Managing accurate data sets for management reporting.
  • Engaging in planning meetings and workgroups related to training pipelines and schedules.
  • Challenging planning assumptions and ensuring alignment with delivery goals.
  • Regularly revalidating planning assumptions with site teams.
  • Collaborating with the Capability Delivery team on future training pipeline changes.

You should have extensive project management experience, including managing large, complex projects. Strong stakeholder engagement and understanding of business and commercial aspects are essential. Excellent communication skills are required.

You should enjoy working in environments that require tailored solutions and navigating pressure situations successfully.

  • At least 5 years of Primavera EPPM experience.
  • Ability to demonstrate courage, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong analytical and logical thinking skills.
  • Adaptability, quick decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience with portfolio or programme planning software with resource-loaded schedules.
  • Excellent communication skills, both individually and in groups.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with third-party software (e.g., MS Teams, Monday.com).
  • Team-oriented with a focus on shared goals.
  • Ability to think beyond assigned tasks for optimal outcomes.
  • UK employment history of over five years and SC clearance or eligibility for rapid clearance.
  • Experience managing complex projects with successful results.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong presentation skills for diverse audiences, including senior stakeholders.
  • Willingness to relocate to or reside in Bristol.
