A leading construction firm is seeking a Senior Project Planner based at the Port of Nigg, Scotland. Qualifications

  • 7-10 years of experience in construction claims and dispute resolution.

  • Membership in a professional body (e.g., RICS, AACE).

Job Description

Role: Senior Project Planner

Location: Port of Nigg, Scotland

Contract type: Project contract on site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and analyse construction schedules, project records, and contracts to identify potential and actual claims.
  • Prepare and support the development of Extension of Time (EoT) and delay/disruption claims in line with contractual provisions.
  • Coordinate with project controls, legal, and commercial teams to develop robust claim strategies.
  • Provide independent assessments of entitlement, liability.
  • Maintain detailed records and documentation to support claims or defenses.
  • Assist in the negotiation and settlement of claims with contractors and clients.
  • Support dispute resolution processes such as mediation, adjudication, or arbitration when required.
  • Ensure claims are aligned with project objectives, timelines, and budgets.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Construction Law, Engineering, or related field. Master’s or legal qualification is an advantage.
  • Minimum of 7–10 years of experience in construction claims and dispute resolution, ideally within major infrastructure programmes.
  • Solid understanding of standard construction contracts (e.g., Mainly NEC, but FIDIC or JCT is useful).
  • Expertise in forensic delay analysis, planning tools (Primavera P6, MS Project), and quantum analysis.
  • Strong analytical, report writing, and negotiation skills.
  • Familiarity with relevant legal principles in construction claims and delay analysis methodologies (e.g., Time Impact Analysis, Windows Analysis).

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
