Role and responsibilities

The role

As a Senior Project Planner, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll play a key role in shaping the planning strategy across Cavendish’s nuclear projects, taking ownership of complex, high-value schedules that are critical to the safe and successful delivery of nationally important programmes. This is a unique opportunity to lead from the front, influence delivery outcomes, and help build long-term planning capability across the business.

Day-to-day, you’ll apply expert knowledge of planning principles and tools like Primavera P6 to maintain integrated schedules, while aligning delivery with strategic objectives across the full project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain project structures and integrated schedules (Levels 1–3)

• Provide regular schedule updates, metrics (e.g. critical path/total float), and variance analysis

• Conduct critical path analysis and earned value reporting, communicating corrective actions

• Ensure alignment of schedules with cost and material demand tools

• Lead planning workshops and contribute to risk analysis and “what-if” scenarios

This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office and 3 days working from home.

Essential experience

• Extensive experience in a similar planning role within engineering or infrastructure

• Advanced user of Primavera P6 with a strong understanding of planning best practice

• Proven expertise in schedule risk analysis, earned value, and interactive planning workshops

• Full lifecycle planning experience from bid through to close-out

Qualifications

• A degree in engineering, project or construction management is desirable
