Our client, a premier engineering and consulting firm based in Camden County, NJ, is looking for an accomplished Senior Project Mechanical Engineering Manager to lead their Power & Infrastructure Department. This is a pivotal leadership role where you'll drive the design, execution, and delivery of large-scale energy infrastructure projects, including data centers, central utility plants, utilities, and independent power producers.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead Engineering & Project Execution – Serve as the key technical authority on capital energy projects, ensuring all design elements align with project scope, deadlines, and financial targets.
  • Manage Design Teams & Technical Oversight – Guide mechanical engineering teams, conduct detailed peer reviews, and uphold the highest technical standards across project deliverables.
  • Hands-On Project Management – Monitor project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation to keep projects on time and within scope.
  • Client & Stakeholder Engagement – Act as the primary liaison for clients, ensuring outstanding service, clear communication, and long-term partnerships.
  • Cross-Disciplinary Coordination – Collaborate with internal teams, subcontractors, and external partners to streamline project execution and optimize outcomes.
  • Business Development & Proposal Leadership – Assist the VP in responding to RFPs, crafting proposals, and securing new business opportunities.
  • Financial Oversight – Manage project accounting, invoicing, and compliance with company financial policies.
  • Industry Leadership & Engagement – Represent the firm at industry events, contribute to strategic growth initiatives, and champion engineering excellence.

THE QUALIFICATIONS

  • 15+ Years of Experience – Extensive experience in mechanical engineering design, project management, and energy infrastructure.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) Licensure – Required.
  • Power & Energy Expertise – Demonstrated ability to engineer and manage power infrastructure projects, including utility-scale peaking power, central utility plants (CUP), combined heat and power (CHP), microgrids, and distributed energy systems.
  • Mechanical Systems Knowledge – Expertise in specifying, integrating, and engineering power components such as:
    • Industrial frame combustion turbines
    • Natural gas & diesel internal combustion engines
    • Heat recovery equipment & packaged boilers
    • Chillers, heat pumps, cooling systems, pumps, and balance-of-plant mechanical equipment
  • Multi-Discipline Coordination – Strong working knowledge of electrical, controls, structural, civil, and architectural requirements.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Construction Standards – Knowledge of OSHA regulations, energy efficiency strategies, and construction best practices.
  • Software & Tools Proficiency – Hands-on experience with AutoCAD, Revit, and industry-standard design software.
  • Time Management & Leadership – Ability to manage multiple projects, lead teams, and drive results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent Communication & Technical Writing – Strong ability to communicate complex engineering concepts, create technical reports, and present ideas to stakeholders.
