Job Description:

What you’ll be doing

As a Senior Project Manager - SEMD, you will:

  • Take responsibility for a series of projects/packages as part of the delivery of Security and Emergency Measures Direction (SEMD) programme.
  • Specifically cover schemes in the North London area, such as Coppermills, Thames Gateway, Thames Water Ring Main sites. Deliver projects ranging from £5m to £45m, with a portfolio value up to £80m.
  • Act as the Project lead from conception to handover, developing robust and safe concepts and solutions in accordance with project delivery procedures.
  • Manage the planning and delivery of design & build activities, including overseeing commissioning.
  • Develop project documentation for submission through the Governance process to secure funding.
  • Work with the team to achieve time and cost targets, coaching others for continuous improvement.
  • Manage indirectly a wider Thames Water team of engineers, environmental, construction, and commercial support.
  • Support the role of CDM Designer or Principal Designer.
  • Provide Project Assurance during delivery, commissioning, and handover.

Location: This role will be based on a hybrid basis, with access to sites in London and the Reading Office.

Working Hours: 36 hours a week, Monday to Friday.

What you should bring to the role
  • Degree level or equivalent experience in an engineering discipline.
  • Knowledge and background in Protective Security and SEMD programmes are desirable.
  • Water industry experience in water/wastewater processes, design, technical, commissioning, and construction assurance is preferred.
  • Strong contractual and commercial skills, with the ability to develop relationships with Tier 1 Contractors.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and coordinate with internal stakeholders, framework suppliers, contractors, and external consultants.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel across the Thames Water catchment.
  • Competence in risk management, including risk identification, mitigation, and control, especially during the outline design stage.
