Job summary

Bilfinger UK is seeking a Project Director to lead projects from inception through completion, ensuring safety, quality and customer satisfaction. You will oversee CAPEX/OPEX, maintain schedules and budgets, and mentor the project team, aligning with Bilfinger's governance and commercial standards.

You will coordinate design, construction and commercial activities, manage client relationships, and drive performance improvements across the contract.

Qualifications

  • Experience delivering multi-discipline mechanical, piping, with E&I and SIP.
  • Experience managing multi-disciplined engineering and PM teams.
  • Proven ability to handle fixed price, unit rate or target cost packages.

Responsibilities

  • Manage resources to ensure safety and environmental standards are met and projects deliver to BMS guidelines.
  • Collaborate with design, construction and commercial teams to translate deliverables into competitive submissions.
  • Establish milestones and monitor scope, time and cost to satisfy client and business requirements.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship and effective governance to project teams.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and performance dashboards across the contract scope.

The Role

As Project Director, you will be responsible for a project from inception to fruition; will lead on HSE, Quality standards and customer satisfaction. In addition to following the companies strategic direction and taking full accountability and responsibility for the safe completion of the project's whole life cycle (CAPEX/OPEX), you will also ensure sure the project is completed on schedule and within budget. You will provide leadership and mentoring to direct reports and personnel in your team, sharing knowledge, best practice and utilising previous experience.

Key Activities

As a Project Director your activities will include the following: Manage appropriate resources to ensure:

  • Safety of people and the environment is first and foremost in all we do and must deliver to the highest standards to ensure compliance at all times to our BMS
  • Working with the design, construction & commercial teams to ensure our deliverables are translated into coherent and competitive submissions
  • Key milestones are established and delivered to satisfy client & business requirements, whilst ensuring scope, time and cost are appropriately considered, monitored and actions are taken to maintain expected outcomes
  • Ensure resources and materials are suitably placed to meet and exceed customer expectationsDelivery is to the highest standard and comply with appropriate regulations
  • Contingencies are put in place to deal with changes and maintain customer satisfactionOperates with the governance and guidelines within the companies BMS
  • Ownership of project review meetings with the team to ensure full project transparency and accurate dissemination of information (internal/external)
  • Operates within the contract guidelines

Lead, support and develop the service by:

  • Effectively placing resources to deliver projects strategy/objectives whilst ensuring clarity surrounding individual roles and responsibilities
  • Providing opportunities for personal growth and development and recognising talent and embracing a continuous learning environment
  • Stepping down in the role and helping the team deliverUnderstanding and translating to others the entire business service offering whilst leveraging business services across the full contract scope
  • Applying, monitoring and driving improvement in norm performance across the business services and demonstrating performance through project control tools/dashboards.
  • Identifying, managing and removing waste across the entire service provision
  • Growing, applying, sharing expertise

Support a strategy to evolve the business by:

  • Supports new business pursuits right through the Sales process in support of new business growth and/or contract growth
  • Assisting in the analysis of customer needs and delivering in line with the contract objectives and conditions
  • Ensuring the you operate within the companies governance structure and guidelines at all times
  • Translating knowledge and developing skill pool within the service provisionDeveloping the service provision through close customer relationships
  • Monitoring of performance and customer feedback and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction
  • Closing out Active actions and ensuring your team is doing the sameProactively leads effort to improves competitiveness through better technical and commercial offering for the clients
  • Acts as subject matter expert in chosen area and develop and coaching of talent within team
Experience Required
  • Managing mechanical and piping Projects, ideally with additional disciplines such as E&I and SIP, under people, time and money constraints
  • Managing multi-disciplined Engineers and Project Management team
  • Delivering fixed price, unit rate and/or target cost work packages involving multiple discipline trade interfaces and subcontractors
  • Successfully managing change in a strong contract environment
  • Exposure of complex commercial frameworks and successful delivery of agreed targets
  • Wide exposure to construction activities across a diverse customer portfolio
  • Management of multiple customer relationships
  • Experience of early contractor involvement / pre-construction engagement with clients at FEED and detailed engineering phases

  • CSCS
  • IOSH
  • NEC 3 & 4 contracts
  • Desirable Chartered Project Professional
  • CDM
