What we will be looking for you to demonstrate

As a Senior Project Manager at WSP in the PMCM Rail team, you will lead the delivery of complex rail projects of regional, national, and international significance. You will ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to high quality standards.

Our Senior Project Managers proactively manage requirements, budgets, schedules, and risks, influence others for successful delivery, and possess strong technical capabilities and excellent communication skills. They collaborate closely with clients and multidisciplinary teams, utilizing WSP offices, client offices, and site locations to deliver programs of strategic importance.

We support a healthy work-life balance, with flexible working arrangements and a minimum of three days in our modern, vibrant UK offices. Occasional site visits are expected.

Your Role

• Leading a project team: coordinating disciplines, enabling issue resolution, and ensuring safety, functional, and regulatory compliance.
• Establishing robust project processes and procedures with the client.

Client liaison:

• Acting as a principal contact, meeting client needs through design and construction phases.
• Developing and managing client relationships.
• Providing monthly reports and data scenarios for senior management clarity.

Stakeholder Management:

• Engaging with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies and community groups.
• Facilitating meetings, presentations, and progress reports.
• Managing stakeholder expectations effectively.

Commercial and Risk Management:

• Managing contracts (including NEC3/4), budgets, and expenditures.
• Optimizing resource use and ensuring financial performance.
• Handling changes, delays, and risk mitigation measures.

Safety and compliance:

• Driving safety performance, ensuring compliance with CDM regulations.
• Ensuring safe and environmentally responsible activities.

Project Planning:

• Defining scope, goals, and deliverables.
• Creating and managing detailed project plans.
• Overseeing execution and progress, implementing corrective actions.

Innovation and Efficiency:

• Driving innovative design and construction solutions.
• Evaluating and implementing new technologies and methodologies.

Qualifications & Experience

• A degree in engineering or management discipline.
• Chartered membership or nearing completion of a relevant professional body.
• Certifications like APM, MSP, PMI, PRINCE2, Six Sigma are beneficial.
• 10+ years of project management experience, including technical and project controls.
• Experience with significant projects, client-side delivery, and organizations like Network Rail, HS2, TfGM.
• Proven success managing workstreams within multidisciplinary teams.
• Curiosity, solution-focus, and responsiveness to client needs.
• NEC4 Project Manager accreditation.
