On behalf of a financial services organisation going through an exciting period of growth and change, I’m seeking a highly experienced Senior Project Manager to lead and deliver a high-profile, multi-million-pound office relocation programme. This pivotal role will manage all phases of the relocation, from strategic planning through to execution and post-move support.

The ideal candidate will bring proven expertise in facilities management, enterprise IT infrastructure, and cybersecurity, ensuring a seamless transition of staff, systems, and operations from the current location to a new, state-of-the-art office environment. This includes oversight of data centre exit strategies, network setup, workplace technology enablement, and security protocols.

Whilst the organisation can offer hybrid working, there will be an expectation of regular travel between their London and Surrey locations.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the end-to-end planning and execution of a complex office relocation programme involving multiple workstreams, stakeholders, and vendors.
  • Define and manage project scope, schedule, budget, risk, and deliverables to ensure a smooth relocation process.
  • Oversee all aspects of facilities management including fit-out, infrastructure, space planning, and environmental compliance in collaboration with internal FM teams and third-party contractors.
  • Manage the exit strategy for the current data centre and ensure robust decommissioning and transition plans.
  • Work closely with IT teams and external suppliers to deliver network infrastructure, audio-visual systems, end-user computing, and other technology solutions in the new premises.
  • Ensure cybersecurity and data integrity are prioritised and embedded throughout the relocation process, from physical security to system hardening.
  • Coordinate with business units to ensure continuity of operations, clear communication, and minimal disruption during the move.
  • Provide leadership and clear direction to internal teams, steering committees, and senior stakeholders through transparent governance and regular reporting.
  • Manage and negotiate with external vendors, ensuring performance, compliance, and delivery standards are met.

Experience / Skills required:

  • Extensive experience (8+ years) in project management, with a strong track record of delivering office relocations or workplace transformation programmes.
  • Strong technical knowledge of IT infrastructure, including network setup, data centre transitions, end-user technology, and security protocols.
  • Demonstrable understanding of cybersecurity standards and how they intersect with physical and digital relocation activities.
  • Familiarity with agile and traditional project management methodologies; relevant qualifications (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP, MSP) .
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all organisational levels.
  • Strong commercial acumen and experience managing multi-million-pound budgets.
  • Ability to manage risk, navigate ambiguity, and drive resolution in a dynamic environment.
  • Previous experience in a regulated financial services environment (e.g., investment banking, insurance, asset management) advantageous but not essential.
  • Experience managing business continuity and disaster recovery plans during large-scale relocations.
