Senior Project Manager – Middle Office, Investment Management
Location: London (3 days per week in office, the rest remote working)

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Senior Project Manager to join Robert Walters as a Consultant. As an employed Consultant, you will benefit from permanent employment with Robert Walters and will be deployed on an interim or project basis into our clients' organisations. In return, we will provide you with the opportunity to develop your skills with ongoing training and professional accreditations.

The successful candidate will join a thriving team working in Business Change. The team provides management of the portfolio pipeline of change, consulting with the business, developing proposals into light business cases, delivery of projects/programmes of work, managing the business impacts and partnering with IT Teams to oversee the technology changes. The intention is to ensure change is smoothly implemented, and that the lasting benefits can be measured and achieved.

The role will manage the workstream of a transformation programme implementing a new target operating model. The Middle Office workstream will cover Trade Processing, Derivatives Processing, Pricing, Reconciliations, and Cash Management. The role will drive a large business SME team and business analysis team to define the end-to-end operating model across the areas and then implement it aligning to tranches agreed with the wider transformation programme and third parties.

The ideal candidate will possess the right balance of business understanding, senior stakeholder management, and project delivery skills. The candidate must be self-motivated and be able to work effectively within a matrix management environment, where several delivery teams are implementing components of the overall solutions. They need to ensure it is well governed, driven forwards and pragmatically implemented.

Responsibilities:
  • Setting up project phases to succeed in terms of governance, methodology, scope, design, operating models, resourcing and planning.
  • Ensuring the business functions realise the value from their change investment.
  • Leading multiple streams covering both business and technology change to deliver the required capabilities to agreed constraints.
  • Energetically/proactively driving a varied set of stakeholders to complete project actions without direct line management.
  • Working with the Business Owners to ensure deliverables are aligned to strategy/vision/business case and that high standards are delivered.
  • Ensuring adherence to best practices and audit compliance for delivery, change control and risk containment.
  • Management reporting across the project.
  • Ensure delivery involves successful collaboration across Business Stakeholders, third parties, IT Teams, Tech, Ops, PMO and other teams.
Required Skills:
  • Experience with investment management Middle Office functions.
  • Experience of Agile/iterative delivery methodologies.
  • PRINCE2 or other formal project methodology experience.
  • Extensive experience in Financial Services, especially Investment Management.
  • Sound understanding of IT software and infrastructure.
  • Proven track record of personally managing successful projects/programmes.
  • Experience of running projects which introduce organisational and process change to business functions.
  • Strong leadership and matrix management skills.
  • Structured approach to project/programme management.
  • Excellent communication skills.
