Job summary

Stevenage Borough Council is seeking two Project Managers to lead the Major Works Delivery Team for council housing. You will oversee planned maintenance and capital improvement schemes from procurement through to completion, coordinating budgets, programmes and contractors.

The role requires strong communication, organisational skills and knowledge of JCT contracts, with responsibility for CDM and health and safety compliance and resident/stakeholder liaison.

Qualifications

• Managing large-scale, multi-trade construction or refurbishment projects from the client side.
• Managing project budgets, programmes and contractors.
• Knowledge of construction contracts, including JCT.
• Strong technical knowledge of building construction and regulations.
• Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
• Managing competing priorities and adapting to different project requirements.

Responsibilities

• Manage planned maintenance and capital improvement projects across the council housing portfolio.
• Oversee each project from procurement and planning through to delivery and completion.
• Oversee procurement, contract administration, budgets and project programmes.
• Manage contractors and consultants for quality, performance and value for money.
• Monitor project risks, costs and progress and act on issues.
• Ensure compliance with legislation, including CDM Regulations and health and safety.
• Communicate with residents, leaseholders and internal teams throughout delivery.
• Direct and support allocated staff, including Clerks of Works and Technical Support Officers.
• Adapt across different project types as service priorities change.
