Job summary

Bimplus, a well-established Birmingham construction consultancy, seeks an experienced Senior Project Manager with a strong retail background to lead a portfolio of retail projects and related sectors. You will oversee feasibility through handover, manage programmes, risks and stakeholders, and lead multidisciplinary teams.

Ideal candidates will have UK consultancy experience, delivery of refurbishment or new-build retail projects, and a track record in client-facing leadership with opportunities

Qualifications

• UK construction consultancy experience is required.
• Experience delivering refurbishment, fit-out or new-build projects.
• Strong ability to lead multidisciplinary design teams and coordinate stakeholders.
• Degree in a construction-related discipline (PM/CM/BSc/QS).
• Professional qualification or working towards (MRICS/MAPM/MCIOB) is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of projects across multiple RIBA stages with focus on programme, quality and client objectives.
• Develop project programmes and coordinate multidisciplinary design teams.
• Manage procurement routes and contract strategies; chair meetings and report to clients.
• Monitor progress, manage risks and change control; communicate with stakeholders throughout delivery.
• Work across retail schemes and other sectors to provide variety and career development.

Job description

A well-established construction consultancy in Birmingham is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager with a strong retail background to join their growing team. The successful Senior Project Manager will lead a range of retail projects for recognised clients, while also having the opportunity to work across other sectors including commercial, residential, leisure and mixed-use developments.

The Senior Project Manager will take responsibility for projects from initial feasibility and design through procurement, construction and handover. Working closely with clients, consultants and contractors, the Senior Project Manager will manage project teams, programmes, risks and stakeholder expectations. The role would suit a confident Senior Project Manager who enjoys client-facing responsibility and is keen to broaden their sector exposure while continuing to build on their retail experience.

You must have prior construction consultancy experience to be considered for this role.

The Senior Project Manager's role

The Senior Project Manager will lead the delivery of projects across multiple RIBA stages, ensuring programme, quality and client objectives are achieved.

Key responsibilities will include developing project programmes, coordinating multidisciplinary design teams, managing procurement and contract strategies, chairing meetings, monitoring progress and reporting directly to clients. The Senior Project Manager will also manage project risks, change control and stakeholder communication throughout delivery.

Alongside retail schemes, there will be opportunities to work across other sectors, offering greater project variety and long-term career development.

The successful Senior Project Manager will ideally have:

• Strong Project Management experience within a UK construction consultancy
• Previous retail construction experience
• Experience delivering refurbishment, fit-out or new-build projects
• A degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Building Surveying, Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline
• MRICS, MAPM or MCIOB qualification, or working towards a relevant professional qualification
• Strong knowledge of procurement routes and construction contracts
• Excellent client-facing and stakeholder management skills
• Experience leading multidisciplinary consultant teams
• An interest in working across additional property sectors
