4Studio is the driving force behind C4's digital acceleration strategy, with the objective to create, adapt and distribute brilliant content across our social and digital channels, building engaged audiences that deliver digital views at scale.
The Business Operations team get things done. Made up of Operations, Project & Process Managers, they ensure our ways of working are agile and efficient and lead on our biggest and most important changes or launches across the department and other Channel 4 teams. The team are our key contacts for keeping projects & processes flowing smoothly and efficiently through the department.
The role is based in C4's National HQ in Leeds and will be a key component of C4's regional strategy, providing creative job opportunities outside of London and expanding the diversity of the company's creative contribution.
JOB PURPOSE
The Senior Project Manager will be our go-to person to for projects within 4Studio, leading on complex, exciting, significant and all new changes within 4Studio (or for things that affect us externally). These projects cover everything we do, so it's an incredibly diverse role, working on advancing our content production and distribution processes, working closely with tech and analyst teams, through to continuously developing our work alongside Commissioners and Sales partners within C4.
You will be responsible for managing the 4Studio project portfolio, ensuring all projects are well scoped, planned & delivered and ensuring prioritisation decisions are taken by the Leadership team when needed.
You will work collaboratively with the wider Business Operations team to ensure projects and changes are transitioned effectively into BAU. You will also lead our small team of Project Managers, being their initial point of support and escalation and being a generally brilliant line manager.
You will actively lead our most important projects and ensure the project portfolio is managed effectively amongst your team. This role will also lead collaborate and liaise with our central ePMO team on IMPACT projects, making sure they're well governed and reporting requirements are fulfilled, alongside ownership of business case development for any investment led projects.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead & manage the project portfolio for 4Studio, ensuring our projects are properly scoped, prioritised, tracked, resourced and delivered, including owning our input and involvement in the ePMO Impact process where needed.
- Manage the Project Management team, providing excellent leadership and support, helping them be the best they can be, delivering real and valuable change for 4Studio
- Actively lead on our most important projects, using tools and project techniques to role model excellent project management to your team and the department, confidently delivering to time, cost & quality expectations.
- Own, shape and implement a robust project method and approach for delivery of project within 4Studio. In doing so, you will enabling stable delivery and a strong risk and issue management across our projects, alongside a clear tooling strategy for project management in our teams, leading to successful project outcomes across the portfolio
- As a Senior role within our Business Operations team, you will collaborate with your peers playing an important role in delivering effective and stable Operations for 4Studio. This will involve building strong partnerships with the other Senior Managers within the Business Operations Hub, and wider 4Studio peers, to ensure projects are well integrated into BAU and the Ops specialists in the team are involved at the right moments in projects to support successful delivery & integration.
- You will ensure your own, and your teams, project documentation is well managed and there is strong and continuous communication and reporting with relevant stakeholders, so they are fully informed and engaged on our projects.
- You will be an excellent communicator, reporting and building engagement in your roadmaps and plans for all areas of your teams responsibilities, ensuring the Leadership team, your peers and all key stakeholders are aware, supportive and regularly updated on your teams initiatives.
- You will be the Senior Project Management subject matter expert and stakeholder in 4Studio & wider Channel 4 projects that require or impact 4Studio
- Budgeting and cost management for your team
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE & SKILLS- Proven Project Management experience in Digital, Social Agency, or TV sector as a Project Manager, or similar role.
- Team management or line management experience, or the ability to demonstrate a strong aptitude for people management & development
- Confidence and experience using Monday.com, or similar workflow/project management tools.
- Recognised project management qualification preferred (e.g. PMI, PRINCE2, APM)
- Demonstrable experience of successfully managing a changing portfolio and priority of projects, achieving strong implementation and value for the business.
- Ability to be responsive and prioritise your focus and workload. You will be required to manage the sometimes competing demands of the role & key stakeholders.
- Demonstrate a good understanding of digital production processes.
- An exceptional communicator and influencer, you'll be able to develop effective working relationships across a diverse group of stakeholders and deliver genuinely impactful change into Channel 4.
- A clear ability to distil complex information and concepts into easily understood documents and reports, allowing you to keep senior management and leadership updated key departmental initiatives in a concise and compelling way.
- Experience of working on your own initiative in a blended or virtual team environment
- Strong skills in MS Office, including Excel and PowerPoint
- Must be approachable and collaborative.
