A leading company is seeking a Project Manager to oversee complex projects with a focus on achieving significant business impacts. Purpose of the job
• Responsible for the definition, documentation and successful completion of projects that may have significant business, political, or high-profile impact and high-risk dependencies, ensuring that realistic project, quality, change control and risk management processes are maintained
• Ensure projects remain within acceptable, agreed tolerances
Key Responsibilities
• Managing significant/complex projects or running multiple lower complexity projects concurrently
• Being responsible for all aspects of projects from the initiation through to completion and handover to operations
•Applying the relevant standards and methodology to be used in a project – in line with corporate guidelines
• Agreeing roles & responsibilities with the project team and key stakeholders
• Managing key stakeholder & sponsor expectations
• Facilitating the definition of project scope, goals and deliverables
• Producing realistic and coherent project schedules
• Assembling and managing project resources
• Monitoring and tracking project progress and deliverables using appropriate tools
• Submitting high quality progress reports to stakeholders and senior managers
• Ensuring project scope is controlled
• Managing project budgets and flagging significant variance
• Ensuring appropriate project documentation is produced and published
• Identification and effective mitigation of project risks
• Identifying and resolving issues – constantly on the lookout for potential problems
•Driving cross-functional project teams to achieve project objectives, providing appropriate direction and support
• Creating a working environment that allows everyone to work to the best of their abilities
• Negotiating with suppliers and sub-contractors as appropriate
• Ensuring that the highest quality standards are met
•Identifying and implementing appropriate remediation actions to bring project back into control as required
• Conducting retrospectives and post project reviews to identify lessons learned that can be incorporated into future projects.
•Making sure lessons learned are considered and related actions implemented when starting new projects
Knowledge, skills and experience required
• Project management qualification such as Prince2 or PMP
• Strong knowledge of project management techniques and tools
• Excellent risk identification and management
• People management
• Excellent written and spoken English
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Delegation
• Negotiation
• Conflict management
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to tailor communication and make relevant to different audiences/levels of seniority
• Clear focus and ability to make decisions
• Strong leader and influencer
• Experienced in all aspects of project financials from estimation to forecasting and status reporting
• Experience of working with waterfall and agile methodologies
• Experience managing software development projects
• Experience of leading multi-disciplined development teams, including managing external vendors and agencies providing services for project
