The Role

As Senior Project Manager, you will take ownership of the successful delivery of complex compressor package projects from contract award through to completion. Acting as the primary customer interface, you'll provide leadership across engineering, procurement, manufacturing and commissioning activities to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget.

You'll also play an important role in supporting and mentoring Project Managers across the wider team, helping to drive best practice, improve project performance and contribute to the continued success of our Projects function.

This role offers exposure to global customers and projects, with occasional international travel required.

About Us

Howden Compressors, part of Baker Hughes, is a global leader in compression technology, delivering engineered solutions that support customers across the energy, industrial and process sectors. Combining decades of engineering expertise with the scale and resources of a world-leading energy technology company, we help customers operate safely, efficiently and sustainably around the world.

As part of an exciting transformation of our Packaging business, we have brought together our Screw and Turbo packaging operations into a single project-focused organisation. This evolution enables us to leverage expertise across product lines, strengthen project execution capabilities and pursue larger, more complex opportunities across global markets.

Today, our Projects team is responsible for delivering strategically important package projects for customers worldwide, with contract values often ranging from £10m to £20m. These projects combine complex engineering, demanding commercial requirements and high levels of customer engagement, creating an environment where strong project leadership is critical to success.

Based in Renfrew, you'll play a key role in the successful execution of these major projects, working closely with multidisciplinary teams, global customers and senior stakeholders. This is an opportunity to influence project delivery at scale while contributing to the continued growth and success of a business that is investing in its future and expanding its project capabilities.

What You Will Do
  • Lead the delivery of complex, high-value package projects on a global basis.
  • Take ownership of project execution from sales handover through engineering, procurement, manufacture, delivery and commissioning support.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for customers, developing strong relationships and managing overall project communications.
  • Provide guidance, support and mentoring to Project Managers and project teams.
  • Manage project budgets, forecasts and cash flow performance to ensure financial objectives are achieved.
  • Monitor project schedules, resources, risks and opportunities, driving successful project outcomes.
  • Support the resolution of complex technical, commercial and contractual matters.
  • Ensure contract requirements, scope changes, invoicing, performance bonds and Letters of Credit are managed effectively.
  • Work closely with engineering teams to support document release schedules and resolve technical queries.
  • Support project review meetings and provide regular reporting to customers and senior stakeholders.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance quality, delivery performance and profitability.
  • Prepare project documentation and facilitate effective handover to commissioning and aftermarket teams.
  • Promote a strong culture of safety, quality and compliance across all project activities.
