Overview
Senior Project Manager - Institutional and Commercial Construction – Toronto, Canada. The Senior Project Manager leads, directs, and coordinates the daily management of assigned project(s) of more than $30 million. This position is accountable for the overall performance of the project including costs, schedule, quality, project status, and adherence to company policies and procedures. The Senior Project Manager will manage a successful team and help develop future construction professionals. This role will be based out of the office.
Responsibilities
- Provide safety leadership through implementation of the Bird Safety Program and monitoring of safety performance of project team and subcontractors.
- Plan, schedule, set objectives and control activities during the construction phase of a project(s) in conjunction with the Project Superintendent and Project Team.
- Supervise and develop project team members through regular feedback, training, and coaching; ensure timely completion of performance evaluations.
- Administer and manage prime contracts and subcontracts; negotiate and award subcontracts for scopes of work and review and evaluate subcontractor performance.
- Manage project budget and billings; work with accounting to ensure timely payment of accounts receivable and accounts payable.
- Review and analyze costs and identify revenue opportunities.
- Provide monthly and quarterly reporting on financial and overall performance of projects to Senior Management.
- Foster and maintain positive relations and communication with clients, consultants, architects, and subcontractors.
What We Are Looking For / Qualifications
- Institutional and commercial construction background.
- Completed education in a construction-related discipline and demonstrated, progressive experience in general contracting; direct project management of large institutional or commercial projects (> $30 million).
- Demonstrated leadership, project management and problem-solving skills; collaborative approach to delivering results and developing team members.
- Service- and results-oriented; ability to build and steward trust with a broad network of professional colleagues, subcontractors, and team members to achieve competitive excellence, teamwork, and outstanding project delivery.
- Demonstrated competence in safety, workforce management, project execution, cost control, quality, and administration.
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project schedule.
- Excellent computer skills; proficiency with MS Office including MS Project. Experience with Viewpoint Project Management system is considered an asset.
