Balfour Beatty is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to oversee a significant converter station project in Scotland. The role involves managing project delivery from initiation to closeout, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and leading a high-performing team. This position offers a chance to contribute to vital infrastructure projects aimed at supporting renewable energy integration.
About the role
Balfour Beatty currently has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Project Manager to join our UKCS Construction teams. You will play a key role in our converter station project on the Isle of Lewis. You will be accountable for a strategic package of the delivery of a converter station, including initiation, planning, design, delivery, monitoring, commissioning, and handover/closeout for these key work packages. This project is part of SSEN Transmission's Western Isles HVDC project, aimed at connecting the Western Isles to mainland Scotland to support renewable energy integration, particularly from offshore wind. It falls under SSEN Transmission's Pathway to 2030 program, which aims to upgrade the electricity transmission network in northern Scotland to meet net-zero targets by 2030. The project involves constructing a new HVDC converter station on Lewis, connecting via a mainland cable to a proposed substation at Fanellan, near Beauly. The successful candidate will be based at our Maxim Park office at Eurocentral in Motherwell during the ECI stage, with frequent site visits to Lewis and Peterhead.
