Job summary

Rubicon Consulting in Manchester is recruiting a Senior Project Manager on a 12-month contract to lead transmission equipment delivery for renewable grid projects.

You will oversee design, testing, and manufacturing, coordinating with electrical teams and subcontractors to ensure on-time delivery, safety and budget adherence. Expect site installation, tender preparation, and progress reporting as the project progresses.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering renewable grid projects, especially offshore wind/offshore interconnectors.
• Strong understanding of HV equipment, protection systems and electrical drawings.
• Capability to manage tenders, subcontractors and design reviews.
• Proven track record in delivering on-time, on-budget projects with safety as a priority.

Responsibilities

• Own delivery of transmission equipment scope ensuring budget, schedule, safety and quality targets.
• Coordinate design, testing and manufacturing to produce reliable electrical designs and hardware.
• Manage site installation, cabling and commissioning activities.
• Prepare offers and tenders with defined scope, costs, schedules, resources, risks and opportunities.
• Oversee subcontractors and their work packages.
• Provide progress reports and run design/process reviews through to project completion.
• Report to Project Manager or Director.

Looking for a Senior Project Engineer to join its renewable project delivery team in Manchester. You will take charge of the transmission equipment on major grid connection projects: the high voltage kit that moves clean power safely from where it is generated to where it is needed. The Grid Technology Solutions team works on Grid Access and HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) projects, mainly offshore wind farms and interconnectors in the UK and overseas.

What you will be doing

• Owning delivery of the transmission equipment scope, keeping it on budget (or better), on schedule, and to the required standards for safety, quality and performance
• Bringing the design, testing and manufacturing teams together to produce a reliable electrical design, drawings and hardware
• Managing site installation, cabling and commissioning
• Preparing offers and tenders, including scope, costs, schedules, resources, risks and opportunities
• Managing subcontractors and their work packages
• Reporting on progress and running design and process reviews through to project completion
• Reporting to your Project Manager / Director

Where You Will Work

This changes with the project stage. Mostly office-based during design, travelling to suppliers and customers during procurement, and mostly on-site during installation.
