Senior Project Manager

Location: London / Essex / Hybrid

Salary: £80,000 - £95,000 dependant on level of experience plus package including;

  1. Company car / Car allowance

Summary

A renowned construction and civil engineering contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to work on major infrastructure projects in the south including leading on the upgrade of one of Essex's busiest road junctions.

Reporting to the Business Unit Director, the Senior Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing all construction activities involved in the delivery of the works.
These will include the construction of the interchange, with a new pedestrian bridge, road widening and construction of new roads.

Duties

  1. Resource, develop and lead a team, defining and communicating project objectives and constraints and complying with health, safety and environmental legislation, thereby delivering the end product on time, within budget and to the agreed quality.
  2. Maximise profit whilst endeavouring to exceed all client expectations acting as the Taylor Woodrow senior site representative across the project.
  3. Ensure individuals are aware of what is expected of them and assign individual responsibilities.
  4. Develop individuals through coaching and training.
  5. Management of designers, including providing direction for the design manager.
  6. Production of information required schedules & subsequent monitoring.
  7. Understand what BIM is, understand the implications and value proposition of BIM within the organisation.
  8. Ensure materials, plant and sub-contractors are procured to meet targets.
  9. Ensure that the works are undertaken in accordance with all HS&E legislation, and the site Health Safety and Environmental Plans.
  10. Review Health & Safety and investigate incidents, providing summary and recommendations.
  11. Carryout periodic inspection of construction sites to ensure compliance.
  12. Maintain strict adherence to the budgetary guidelines, quality and safety standards.
  13. Identify the elements of project design and construction likely to give rise to disputes and claims.
  14. Mitigate legal issues and defects liability for the business.
  15. Communicate effectively with the contractors responsible for completing various phases of the project.
  16. Decide on solutions to major issues and challenges.

To be suitable you will have:

  1. Previous experience leading a major infrastructure projects with a value of over £30m (ideally in roads & highways).
  2. Formal qualification(s) in a civil engineering or construction related subject.
  3. CSCS card.
  4. Chartered Engineering status would be advantageous but not essential.
