Qualifications

  • Experience in heavy manufacturing/steel fabrication environment is essential.
  • City & Guilds/NVQ in mechanical engineering trade is beneficial.
  • Proven contract management experience in heavy engineering is essential.

Recruit4staff are proud to be representing their client, a heavy industrial manufacturer, in their search for an experienced Senior Project Manager to work in Birkenhead.

For the successful Senior Project Manager, our client is offering:
  • £70,000 - £80,000 per annum (Negotiable depending on experience)
  • Core working hours 8am-4:30pm Monday to Friday

The role - Senior Project Manager:
  • Senior accountable owner for the relationship with customers
  • Working with commercial & defence sector contractors
  • Negotiating high value commercial contracts & managing the contract upon agreement
  • Collaboration and liaison with other Project Managers and members of the senior leadership team
  • Ability to take ownership and accountability of allocated projects to ensure delivery of the technical and financial performance whilst having the backing of a supportive team and working closely with the senior leadership
  • Ensuring design, engineering and stringent quality standards are maintained
  • Accountable for project-wide estimating covering all aspects such as technical development, supply chain, risks, variations including additional scope etc.
  • Spend a portion of time on the shop floor keeping in touch with the day-to-day issues
  • Senior representative attending customer meetings covering all project aspects and levels of seniority within the customer organisation
  • Interface conduit for production, technical and quality areas to ensure effective project management, visibility and controls
  • Lead the project team and manage the supply chain to deliver projects on time, meeting cost and quality targets and company standards
  • Represent the company as the project’s commercial first point of contact
  • Deliver continuous improvement of project management processes and practices
What our client is looking for in a Senior Project Manager:
  • Experience of Project Management & Contract Management within a heavy manufacturing / steel fabrication / heavy engineering / shipbuilding environment - ESSENTIAL
  • City & Guilds/NVQ in fabrication or welding or similar mechanical engineering trade - BENEFICIAL
  • Prince2 Project Management qualifications - BENEFICIAL
  • Knowledge of procedures and processes in shipyards and shipyard trade skills
  • Proven experience of estimating projects in a heavy engineering environment - ESSENTIAL
  • Commercial awareness and experience working with Customers' quantity Surveyors
  • Proven experience of high-value commercial contracts & contract management - ESSENTIAL
  • High value budget and Earned value management experience
  • Excellent understanding of commercial finances - ESSENTIAL
  • Experience in building and expanding project teams
  • Experience of defence sector single source contracting and SSRO requirements - BENEFICIAL
  • Knowledge of current legislation relating to the maritime industry - BENEFICIAL
