Senior Project Manager

Location: Scotland - Central, Northern and Highlands

Type: Permanent

Summary

An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Project Manager within SSE North Scotland to lead multiple project managers overseeing teams installing and constructing electrical power distribution and transmission systems from 11kV to 132kV. The role focuses on delivering safe, profitable, timely, and high-quality networks that meet customer needs and enhance the company's reputation.

The Senior Project Manager will manage their projects and supervise several Project Managers handling diverse electrical network projects concurrently. These projects include installing ground-mounted and structure-mounted power system components, cable systems, switchgear, transformers, busbars, relay panels, and associated equipment in substations operating at up to 132KV.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading multiple project managers and teams, reporting to the Operations Manager, to build confidence and promote business growth.
  • Providing leadership, guidance, and support to project teams and ensuring adherence to all procedures with a focus on health and safety, including undertaking site supervision roles as per CDM regulations.
  • Managing the execution of multiple projects simultaneously, overseeing team tasks, and developing direct reports through regular appraisals.
  • Controlling resources, including materials, equipment, and labor, for ongoing projects.
  • Maintaining good commercial awareness, including completing valuations within scope.
  • Ensuring safety and proper maintenance of company property, including PAT and calibration testing.
  • Producing as-built records, test results, updated drawings, and project reports.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • HNC/Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Operational knowledge of electrical power distribution systems.
  • Site safety passport and experience working on CDM sites.
  • SSSTS or SMSTS is desirable but not essential.
  • Possession of SSE DNO authorization for PTW management or equivalent.
