Job description

Our client is seeking two experienced Senior Project Managers to lead a prominent water sector project. These roles will ensure the successful delivery of the contract and related activities, covering design, construction, and commissioning phases. You will work closely with expert advisers to maintain compliance with planning, licensing, and regulatory requirements, while managing key stakeholder relationships. As a role model for health, safety, well-being, and environmental standards, you will monitor contractor progress, prepare reports, and lead meetings with designers, stakeholders, and contractors.

What will you be doing?

Key Responsibilities

• Represent Portsmouth Water at Non-Statutory Sub-Group meetings.
• Conduct regular meetings with stakeholders to monitor work schedules and coordinate activities.
• Prepare monthly progress reports and governance approval documentation.
• Oversee all direct reports assigned to project packages and ensure their successful progression.
• Lead procurement, monitor, and evaluate the performance of contracts and subcontracts.
• Coordinate with external stakeholders to secure agreement or acceptance of project delivery plans.
• Collaborate with Portsmouth Water internal teams to ensure seamless project handover into operations, including asset integration.
• Ensure project development aligns with Portsmouth Water and Havant Thicket Project standards, specifications, and policies.
• Complete projects on time, within budget, and to quality standards, meeting ODI targets and regulatory allowances.
• Ensure compliance with the Havant Thicket Health and Safety Management Plan and Portsmouth Water policies.

Skills, Qualifications & Competencies

• Excellent communication and team leadership skills.
• Strong analytical abilities to review and produce technical specifications, procurement strategies, business cases, and progress reports.
• Knowledge of risk management techniques and experience managing budgets for large construction projects.
• Good understanding of construction materials, processes, and equipment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams).
• Experience with Contract Management Software.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Over 10 years of experience in design and construction management.
• Proven experience leading major, complex civil infrastructure projects, especially in the water sector.
• Experience with reservoir works and/or major earthworks is advantageous.
• NEC contract management experience, preferably with Option C target cost.
• Project Management Certification (PRINCE, APM, PMI).
• Valid driver’s license, with a driving assessment required.
• Recognized supervisory qualification or willingness to obtain one.
