Senior Project Manager

Guildford

An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Project Manager to join the team at Galliford Try.

Ideally, you will be based in or around the Guildford area and will have the opportunity to travel across multiple sites/projects in the region.

What you will be doing:

The SPM is responsible for managing the development and delivery of projects across the Building Southern business unit.

  • Establish and maintain a profile across the region, promoting existing and future client and supply chain relationships.
  • Develop and maintain key framework relationships, converting frameworks from second stage through to financial close.
  • Develop client relationships by ensuring that project teams represent themselves professionally by maintaining regular contact with client's representatives.
  • Participate in Regional Management Meetings and ensure the dissemination of strategy to project teams.
  • Provide management and technical input to pre-qualifications and tenders/bids to help ensure a winning solution.
  • Support the personal development review process and organise the required training for staff to maximise their potential.
  • Ensure clients are aware of the full suite of end-to-end solutions the company can provide.
  • Establish a behavioural safety culture within projects and ensure full engagement of staff, supply chain, consultants, and client teams. Promote and support Challenging Beliefs Affecting Behaviours (CBAB).
  • Promote positive and collaborative behaviours across projects supporting Delivering Excellence. Be an ambassador for Delivering Excellence in all activities.
  • Establish a behavioural quality culture, promoting the Right First Time initiative to support Delivering Excellence.
  • Use and promote the use of the BMS by your staff, testing and challenging it as appropriate.
  • Support the development and implementation of the Functional Lead Strategies.
  • Ensure robust Quality Management at each key stage from Bid, through Construction, to After-Care.
  • Implement and oversee the Regional After-Care Strategy.
  • Promote and employ VfP for all information exchange.
  • Develop strategies around Industry Regulatory change and policy updates.
  • Lead by example, being aware of the impact of your behaviours on the business unit.

About You:

  • Currently working in a senior position within construction.
  • Experience managing a portfolio of projects each valued above a certain threshold (£m).
  • Extensive construction experience across new build, refurbishment, and fit-out projects.
  • Entrepreneurial with a strong service ethos, capable of inspiring and influencing teams with a personable leadership style.
  • Strong relationships within the public sector client base.
  • A motivating leader who challenges and inspires teams.
  • Ability to foster a sense of ownership and responsibility among team members.
  • Industry awareness to identify strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities.
  • Ability to build effective, collaborative teams capable of addressing non-compliance issues.
