Job description

Project Manager
Permanent | Warwickshire
Salary Circa 45 - 55k

Join an advanced engineering and testing business supporting clients across the automotive, defence, aerospace, and rail sectors. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of varied and technically complex engineering projects, working with multidisciplinary teams and global customers. Will suit someone with around 3 years experience looking to step up, ideally from an Automotive industry background.

About the Role

As a Senior Project Manager, you will lead the end-to-end delivery of engineering projects ranging from rapid-turnaround technical tasks to multi-million-pound, multi-year programmes. You’ll ensure projects are delivered to scope, on time and within budget, while meeting or exceeding client expectations.

You may also support larger programmes led by others or mentor junior Project Managers within your own allocated projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of 1–6 projects or a framework agreement, overseeing cost, timing, quality, risk, and resource planning.
  • Define, track, and deliver to project scope and deliverables.
  • Collaborate with technical leads to secure the right resources and capabilities.
  • Present project updates to internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Host and chair project meetings, both internally and with customers.
  • Ensure process compliance and proactively manage risk and opportunities.
  • Contribute to business reporting (e.g. monthly reviews, revenue tracking).
  • Share best practice, mentor junior colleagues, and contribute to continuous improvement within the project function.

What You'll Need

Essential:

  • Degree or equivalent in Engineering or a technical field (experience may be considered in lieu).
  • 3–5+ years’ experience in Project Management within a technical/engineering setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams of 2–20 people.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Working knowledge of MS Project.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable:

  • APM qualifications (e.g. PFQ, PMQ).
  • Experience delivering collaborative R&D projects (e.g. Innovate UK).
  • Knowledge of defence-sector project delivery and associated governance.
  • Experience working in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary engineering business.
  • Eligible for UK Security Clearance.

What You'll Be Doing Now

You're likely working as a Project Manager in a technical environment, looking to take the next step in your career. You have a strong sense of ownership, thrive in fast-paced settings, and are motivated by delivering high-quality outcomes for customers. You're also keen to lead, not just manage — shaping projects and teams to succeed.

What We’re Looking For

  • A methodical, well-organised approach with strong attention to detail.
  • A proactive, solution-focused mindset and a willingness to take initiative.
  • An excellent communicator who can influence and inspire both customers and internal teams.
  • Ability to work at both operational and strategic levels.
  • Full UK driving licence.
