Job summary

Framatome in the United Kingdom is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead complex, highly regulated nuclear projects from Cranfield. You will ensure delivery within scope, schedule and budget while maintaining strict safety, quality and environmental standards.

The role requires strong leadership of multi-disciplinary teams, robust risk management and close collaboration with clients and suppliers. The position demands extensive experience in large, highly regulated projects and a proven track

Qualifications

• Extensive experience managing large, highly regulated projects (£5M+).
• Proven ability to apply ISO 9001/14001/45001/19443 and IMS systems.
• Strong leadership and cross-functional team management.
• Experience using Primavera and MS Project for planning and control.
• Expertise in risk, cost control and change management.

Senior Project Manager

Responsibilities

• Ensure projects are executed and controlled to meet customer requirements and minimise risks for the business.
• Ensure full compliance with nuclear safety, quality and environmental standards.
• Take responsibility for executing the project management processes on assigned projects.
• Develop, maintain and manage project plans, schedules, risk registers and budgets.
• Lead hazard identification and risk assessments relevant to project activities.
• Manage contracts and procurement processes in line with business processes to deliver project objectives.
• Manage the relationship with the client and all stakeholders including third parties/vendors.
• Manage and coordinate multi‑disciplinary teams including engineering, QSHE, commercial, project controls and operations to ensure successful project delivery.
• Monitor project performance, conduct regular reporting, and implement corrective actions where necessary.
• Provide input regarding project resource needs based on assessment of their projects future workload.
• Conduct lessons learned and continuous improvement processes to drive efficient project delivery.
• Champion project governance, quality assurance, and change control processes.
• Promote a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and innovation.
• Coach and mentor junior members of the team.
• Successfully delivered projects within agreed timeframes, cost, scope, and quality metrics.
• Delivery against customer requirements with high safety and quality performance, strong OTIF delivery and minimum risk.
• Project documentation including project plans, schedules, risk registers etc.
• Accurate and timely reporting to the leadership team and other key stakeholders.
• Strong leadership and development of their integrated project delivery team.
• Effective stakeholder and interface management across multiple functions and organisations, including subcontractors and suppliers.
• Strong customer and stakeholder relationships with trust between parties.
• Lessons learned captured, communicated and applied to future project delivery.

Profile

• Degree in Project Management, Engineering, or related discipline.
• APM PPQ or equivalent, working towards Chartership.
• Member of a recognised project professional body (e.g., APM, PMI).
• IOSH or NEBOSH Managing Safely (highly desirable).
• In‑depth knowledge of ISO standards (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, 19443) and working knowledge of IMS systems.
• Knowledge of the key attributes of nuclear safety culture.

Expected Development within 3 years

• Chartered project professional status.
• A recognised qualification in leadership.
• Managing Successful Programmes (MSP).

Experience, Skills and Knowledge

• Extensive experience in managing large, highly regulated projects with a particular focus on £5M+ projects in highly regulated environments.
• Proven experience in highly regulated industries – working within environments that require strict adherence to regulatory standards and practices.
• Strong ability to manage project controls artefacts such as schedules and cost models, with expertise in Primavera and MS Project for project tracking and resource management.
• Application of QSHE Standards such as ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 and 19443.
• Familiarity with quality and continuous improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma, Lean, etc., and their application to project delivery.
• Strong understanding and experience in managing and mitigating project and programme risks.
• Ability to apply safety practices in the management of complex projects with high‑risk factors.
• Skilled in managing budgets to ensure project financial health, and effectively control costs across project lifecycles.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and influencing skills.
• Ability to navigate complex political and technical environments.
