Title: Senior Project Manager (Grade P4)
Location: New Shire Hall, Huntington - 50/50 split hybrid working
Salary: 500 per day (flexible)
Contract Type: Temporary - 6 months with possible extension


The Greater Cambridge Partnership is seeking an exceptional Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of transformative transport infrastructure projects. This is a pivotal role within the City Deal initiative, driving sustainable growth and connectivity across the region.
As a key figure in the GCP Transport Programme, you will oversee major infrastructure schemes worth millions, ensuring they are delivered efficiently, sustainably, and in alignment with community and business needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Inspire and lead multidisciplinary teams, fostering a culture of empowerment, transparency, and innovation.
  • Programme Delivery: Manage complex transport projects from inception to completion, ensuring value for money and alignment with GCP objectives.
  • Financial & Risk Oversight: Control budgets, monitor expenditure, and maintain live risk registers to ensure robust project governance.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong partnerships with government bodies, local authorities, service providers, and community groups.
  • Customer Focus: Champion inclusive consultation and communication strategies to ensure projects reflect the needs of all users.
  • Staff Development: Recruit, train, and support high-performing teams, promoting continuous professional growth.

Person Specification
Qualifications

  • HNC or Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline (Essential)
  • Professional membership (e.g., Chartered/Incorporated Engineer) (Desirable)
  • Management qualification (Desirable)


Experience & Knowledge

  • Proven track record in leading major infrastructure projects
  • Strong financial and resource planning capabilities
  • Deep understanding of stakeholder management and public sector governance
  • Expertise in procurement, policy frameworks, and contract management
  • Familiarity with Health & Safety legislation and CDM Regulations
  • Experience working with elected officials and aligning projects with political priorities
